Stephanie before 8am

Stephanie’s kids are a little older than most of the kids in the other families I’ve photographed in this series. They are pretty independent, each getting themselves ready for school without much help. Stephanie is awake and hangs out with them chatting as they’re getting themselves ready.

He is fascinated by the Titanic. AS AM I.
She watches him walk to the bus stop from the front yard.
And then almost as soon he’s gone, Stephanie’s daughter wakes up and comes downstairs.
She is a serious dancer. She dances 5 hours every day after school. And has been doing that since first grade. (She’s now in fourth.)

Brittney before 8am

We shot Brittney’s session on a Saturday morning. Her in-laws were in town from Baton Rouge because Brittney’s youngest son was being baptized the next morning.

So here’s a Saturday morning of breakfast and babies and grandparents.

When I got there, Brittney and her husband were starting to make breakfast, and everyone else was asleep still.

Jill before 8am

Jill’s morning went pretty quick as she and her husband got dressed and ready for work. Talya, her 2 1/2-year-old daughter, was not a fan of having a stranger in her house so early in the morning, and I think she was a little clingier than usual to her mom because I was there.

So here’s what happens at Jill’s house before 8am. When I got there, Talya wasn’t awake yet. Jill was up and her husband was showering.

My favorite part of this photo is the balloon on the ceiling.

Getting her hair done in the bathroom, but the weird lady with the camera is in there too!!!

He asked her, “Did I get it all off?”

I’ve already forgotten what the injustice was, but I love this photo.

Hannah before 8am

We did this session on Easter morning. Hannah has a really nice blog ( if you want to check it out) where I spent a while the day before her shoot reading all about their lives, because her blog is gorgeous.

Why you might care about her. She’s a good writer. She has boy/girl twins that they adopted as newborns. She is a photographer herself and she works as the production manager for another photographer here in town. She has awesome style.

And then there’s the YELLOW KITCHEN TABLE. I totally loved this table, so there are a lot of shots at that table. Hannah told me she bought it from a blogger she follows who posted it for sale, and she grabbed it up right away.

She & her husband get up before the kids and have breakfast and coffee together first thing.

They had just had a deck installed in their backyard the day before, so they were excited to sit outside to drink their coffee.

The yellow table! Both kids turning to look at me! The dog under the table! I love everything about this picture.

When I followed her upstairs to her basket of clean but not-yet-put-away laundry, she said, “Well, this is real life, right?”

That’s what happens in Hannah’s house before 8am on a Sunday. Read what she wrote about her mornings in her post on the Houston Moms Blog.
