beer cans and an action shot

A couple weekends before Christmas, one of my friends from Boston came down for a weekend to visit. I took him to the Beer Can House, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Here’s Michael among the beer can art.

We also went to see the Menil Collection, which is a free museum in a very cool building in Montrose. Sadly they don’t allow photos inside, so I can’t show you how cool the space is. It’s a very varied and eclectic collection of art–definitely worth seeing. If you live here, you should go. And if you don’t live here, you should remember it in case you ever find yourself in Houston with a free afternoon.

The outside of the building was pretty cool, too, so we walked around with our cameras taking pictures outside before we left. Michael got this shot of me in action, because he thought it was funny that I was taking a picture of basically nothing.

Here’s the photo I took of “nothing.” I like it.:)

happy holidays

I hope everyone had a wonderful Hanukkah or Christmas. I am way backlogged on things to post…I have several things I want to write here about. I spent my Christmas in Colorado visiting lots of family, which is always a blast. (I am being sincere, people.) And now I’m back in Houston with a ton of photos to sort through.

So a belated happy holidays to everyone, and watch this space for more posts soon.:)

Babies, babies, babies

This newborn took two days to photograph. The first time I went over, he was having a hard time settling and by the time his mom got him into a deep sleep, I only had about 15 minutes left before I had to leave. So I got a few then and agreed to I’d come back another morning to get more. So two days later, I went back for another couple hours with him. And I still didn’t get to do all the shots I wanted to try! Newborns are not quick sessions.

I had a very hard time choosing which ones to show on here. I wanted to show them ALL. I am totally in love with this baby–he is SO SO sweet. Born at 6 lbs 12 oz, he’s 6 days old in some pics and 8 days old in others. Check these out! How cute is he???

new in houston

I know no one wants to read a blog that is rarely updated. Which is why I feel horrible about never updating. I like people to read what I write. So I guess I better start writing more so people have a reason to check often.:)

I have not photographed too many newborns yet, but I love them. Teensy, tiny, light-as-a-feather babies who are all curly and squishy and moldable…and did I mention tiny?!? It is hard to believe people start out life so small. Just one for now…six days old:

family session at Hermann Park

This weekend I had a great shoot with the W family in Houston’s Hermann Park. What a great place to hang out, now that it’s not so crazy hot anymore. (And the geese sure are friendly.)

And this last one shows pretty much what the six-year-old thought of the whole thing, but he was a trooper! I love this one.
